Howdy howdy! Today I felt like taking a few photos. I needed someone who would look good outside, and wanted to use a newer figure, so I went with Kirito and Asuna. I ended up with mostly shots of Kirito, but hey!
I have not had the chance to take many photos in the past few months, but I did a few shoots that were oddly all during cloudy weather.
So let’s um…look at them!
I feel like most of my Natsume pictures are underwhelming. Like he looks good but that’s because he’s a good looking figure. It’s not really bad. That’s just how it is. My only photos of him that I feel are exceptional are those of him in the yellow flowers.
Actually, this one isn’t bad.
I’ve yet to give Lucina a dedicated shoot. I’ve just been pulling her out while shooting pretty scenery, but it’s working so far. I need to focus more on her super cool sword fighting side. Too bad I’m terrible with fighting poses.
Colors not working out? Just do some funky editing and pretend it was intentional! Seriously most of my black and white photos are ones where the colors didn’t work. Black and white photography is an art in itself though, so ONE DAY I’ll give it some practice.
Ah I’ve hardly played with or talked about my Touken ranbu nendoroids, but I can assure you that they are WORTH IT.
These nendoroids are so well done and detailed, and their colors are bright and bold, and their faces are so elegant *sob*
It’s undeniable that I went through a buy now think later phase with figure collecting last year which resulted in a lot of impulse buys. One was nendoroid Alice Cartelet here who I know NOTHING about. But you know what? I regret nothing with this purchase. I mean look at that face! And those big puffy pigtails! And the pastels! It’s like she was made for me!
Thanks for looking!
I’m going to start work on some reviews next *_*
Welcome to Figma News Fridays!
But, Yami Usagi, it’s Tues–*slaps* and what a lovely week it was, so let’s get started!
Welcome to Figma News Fridays! This week was slow once again. In fact, the only news we have is SAO related, so let’s get started!
Welcome to the last Figma New Fridays of 2014! And to celebrate the beginning of 2015, I’m about to begin sorting through photos for my yearly photo summary post! This week had three preorders and one reveal, so let’s get started!
Figma Horse White and Chestnut preorders Begin
The loot is here once again!
And for anyone interested, my Pokémon X journey is going fabulously. I currently have 6 badges and just bought my trainer a cute pink dress in Anistar city. I love being able to change outfits which might be a problem since I’m tempted to do it almost every day. I even changed my trainer into a coat to ride Mamoswine through the snow. Were the Global Sync server not undergoing maintenance at the moment, I’d be sharing pictures as well.
There have also been some changes to my team. I now have: Jolteon(Pippa), Flygon(Pandora), Delphox(Inari), Venusaur(Midori), Azumarill(Blueberry), and Mienfoo(Mutton). Kalos has a phenomenal selection of Pokémon that are accessible throughout your Pokémon journey. In previous regions it felt like there were only a few good Pokémon to catch along the way and all others were merely to fill space in the Pokedex or for you to use until you reached those good Pokémon. But in Kalos, I found that there were infinite possibilities for my team and was often upset that I’d filled a particular spot in so early. I do not want to rush the game, but I am really looking forward to training a competitive team and taking on some other trainers. I’ll definitely be IV training the best Gardevoir that I can. By the way, did you know that Gardevoir is Yami Usagi’s favorite Pokémon? Because it is.
As for this month’s loot, it was another goodie filled one with not a figure in sight. Here’s everything:
Disney Classic Elsa, Shrine Maiden costume, Pink Round Toe Strap Shoes, Asuna Earphone Jack, and Goodsmile Kuji Miku tote.
I’ve been a little silent this past two weeks, haven’t I? You can blame Pokémon X for that, but I can assure you that I am having lots of fun!
I am now headed for my third badge, and here’s my team: Pancham(named PandaExpress), Azumarill(named Blueberry), Ivysaur(named Midori), Aerodactyl(named Flappy), Jolteon(named Pippa), and Braixen(named Inari). I adore Braixen because of how it fights. You all know that I love magic characters, right? Because I do! The only bummer about Braixen evolving into a fire/psychic(my dream starter *_*) is that I can’t catch any other Psychics(my favorite type). Fairy is also giving me a challenge since I do not always remember their strengths and weaknesses–not to mention the old Pokémon who have been altered. I freaked out when Pancham’s karate chop did nothing to a Granbull.
Yet another long awaited addition is the option to customize your trainer, and there are even spots to take pictures!
Here’s my trainer in Shalour City. Her name is Sunny!
Hello! After a week of being back, I finally have everything together to post about my camping trip. For anyone who didn’t even know I was gone(I don’t blame you), this was my first time camping ever. I haven’t even been on vacation in a while, so this is one of the few serious outings I’ve been on with my SLR which is always exciting. To make it even better, this is the prettiest fall season I’ve seen since taking up photography as a hobby. I live about an hour away from the biggest city(oh why) which does provide me with lots of greenery, but I am still in a neighborhood which makes forest photos hard to do(unless I want to sneak into someone down the street’s yard). And the few trees in my yard don’t even come close to imitating the truly beautiful multicolored canopy of autumn. That’s when this trip came to the rescue! My family had the intention of camping this summer, but we were not able to because of work and such. So when we finally were able to, summer and it’s precious warmth were long gone, but a new opportunity awaited. We camped at Amicalola State Park which is quite popular this time of year since it’s in the mountains. Of course the focus of my photo taking would be my beloved figures, so I packed up two nendoroids, seven figmas, my two dolls, and all of their clothes for the trip. Looking back, it would have been ok to bring a few scales as well, but I prefer not to risk it when going somewhere new.
With everything together, we headed to the site.
Forgetting that it is logically colder up north, I packed shorts and t shirts with a pair of thin jeans “just in case”. This was a terrible idea because it was cold. Especially at night. I spent a lot of time in my pajama pants…
Anyway, the camp site was nestled within a lovely wooded area which gave me the opportunity to not only photograph my figures among the leaves, but have a little privacy as well which is always nice since lying on the ground to take pictures of tiny people doesn’t exactly fall into the realm of normal things to do while camping.
Time for another figma review! This time it’s on someone newer– figma Asuna by Max Factory.
Known for her speed with the rapier, Asuna is the a high ranking member of the Knights of the Blood guild and one of the top players in Sword Art Online who is devoted to clearing the game thus freeing those trapped in it. Having researched many flavor combinations within Sword Art Online’s database, Asuna is also a master cook, and because of her
sandwiches, personality, Asuna and Kirito eventually marry within the game and date in real life.
I’ve mentioned before that SAO disappointed me in several aspects(see my nendoroid Kirito review for a little more on that) with one of these being it’s tendency to tell rather than show. Often details that would help the viewer become attached to characters or better immerse themselves in the world of SAO were left out which really lessened the impact of important events. Although I did not feel this way while watching SAO, looking back, I’d say that Asuna suffered from this a lot. As mentioned earlier, Asuna is a good cook. I have no problem with this, but what’s left when you take it away? She’s fast? Pretty?…She likes Kirito? Honestly, there are very few traits that compose Asuna’s character, and looking back, she feels like less of a truly interesting character and more like a perfect wife designed for Kirito. Although there were instances that began to define Asuna(when she fought recklessly because she felt her life was being stolen and her argument with Kirito over whether or not sacrificing NPCs is ok), I don’t think there were enough of them to really make me want to care about her. I do like Asuna and think she and Kirito are a nice couple, but wish that the show gave me a genuine reason to feel that way. Sometimes I wish I could go over SAO episode by episode just to point out what bothered me.
Now on to the figure!
The first Figma News Fridays of August! But the second one this week. In spite of the recent Wonderfestival, a good number of figures from various companies have already gone up for preorder. Among this batch is one new figma, and a release as well. So let’s get started!
Sae Preorders Begin
Joining the Hidamari figma crew is none other than Sae! Make use of an optional pair of fogged glasses or a delightful embarrassed face to showcase Sae’s wide range of emotions. She also comes with a head to transform her into Nori for twice the fun. Sae retails for 4000 yen and will be released in December.
Another Hidamari Sketch figma. Hmm let’s count her accessories! One…two?
My knowledge of Hidamari Sketch is slim, but to be expected to pay a high price twice just to be able to display all of the characters is sad. And to receive very few accessories for the characters you bought is also sad. It’s just sad.
