Welcome to Figma News Fridays! This Friday was a pretty normal day for me. It was filled with sleeping, walking, standing, oh and MY BIRTHDAY! That’s right, this Friday Yami Usagi became *sob* 20 years old! I started collecting figmas when I was just 14. Where has the time gone? This has been a very happy year for me personally though, so I hope that continues for many years to come.
This week packed many release date announcements and a long awaited preorder, so let’s get started!
Leonidas Preorders Begin
From the film ‘300’ comes a figma of the great King of Sparta, Leonidas!
Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
He comes with two expressions including a glaring expression and a shouting expression. Both make use of UV printing for a very realistic appearance.
Optional parts include various equipment used by Leonidas including his sword, shield, spear, helmet and his necklace.
The memorable cape from the film is also included and made from actual fabric.
A standard infantry-use helmet is also included.
An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Leonidas retails for 7407 yen and is scheduled for an April 2016 release.
Leonidas was announced over a year ago, and has finally opened for preorder. Of course, the long wait was worth it so that he could be figma #300! Just kidding, he’s #270.
I am less fond of realistic figmas, but Leonidas looks improved from past figmas like Indiana Jones. The movable eyes were cool, but I have a feeling they were not successful or fun to work with, so Leonidas has two expressions with normal printed eyes. He also does not appear over textured(except maybe that armor) and his body looks great! There are complaints over his lack of nipples, but I suppose we cant have it all. I’ll be passing, but I have hope for Leonidas.
Figma Horse Release Date Announced
Both horses(sold separately) are scheduled for a September 30th release.
I forgot I got this horse.
That wraps up this week! Is Leonidas in your future? How about any of the figures set to release soon?
