Welcome to this week’s Figma News Fridays! We have a lovely combination of releases, preorders, delays, and a figma who will be up for order soon! So let’s get started!

Racing Miku 2016 Theme Announced

No image yet

Good Smile has announced 2016’s Racing Miku to have a flame theme. This year also appears to be a contest like with Snow Miku, so the theme can be interpreted as victory, or glory, or…barbeque.
More details as we get them!

Monday

Lucina Delayed

Surprise surprise! When Lucina was announced two years ago, I did not recognize or care about her, but now I do. And that is how long it has taken to release Lucina.
Lucina has now been delayed from June to August.
At least I was able to finally get in an order, so I too can spend too much on her.

Kitakami Preorders Begin

From the popular browser game ‘Kantai Collection -KanColle-‘ comes a figma of the Torpedo Cruiser, Kitakami!

Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
She comes with three expression parts including her standard listless expression, a bright smiling expression and a self-satisfied expression.
Optional parts include her single-barreled turrets, five four-tube torpedo launchers and a two-tube torpedo launcher for before her remodeling.
Alternate leg and skirt parts to display her in various different poses.
An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Kitakami retails for 5833 yen and is scheduled for a November release.

I love how Kitakami’s artwork reflects in this figma. The big feet and old school feel of her faces makes her very unique in spite of her otherwise standard design. Aside from three expressions and alternate body parts, Kitakami’s accessories are mostly weapons which is great for fans and weapon enthusiasts, but not so much for people concentrating on her cute girl factor. Thankfully Kitakami has no exclusive shop bonus, so the usual high price will not get any higher.
A pass for me, but nice style!

An alternate ‘Heigus Particle Cannon’ head part is included to display the Series 18 Garde firing the particle cannon.
The standard weapons of the Series 18 Garde are all included – the Kabizashi spear, arm blades and a ballistic acceleration device.

Since only markings differentiate the mechs, it’s a pretty good idea to have a separate figma that you can mark yourself! The blank version is a GSC shop exclusive, but at least you can buy both at once and save on shipping. Otherwise, you get meat on a stick and the usual high price of a Sidonia figma.
This is also a pass for me, but a charming idea nonetheless!

Origin: Gekijouban Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova DC

Iona looks very cute and has a good variety of accessories. Preorders should be open soon, and we’ll know her dreaded price.

That brings this week’s FNF to an end! Are you still waiting for Lucina, hoping for an 18 Garde of your own, or looking forward to Iona?

  1. The range of expressions and accessories on Kitakami (even including an alternate skirt part to pose her like her card art!) is really solid, and combined with a reasonable price (from amiami anyway) makes her a definite buy from my part. She probably won’t be as great as Mutsu, but still looks to be among the best Kancolle figmas so far.

That being said, I do not look forward to all the limb switching that she’s gonna require. The new figma joints on Mutsu made switching out just one leg an absolute nightmare. Considering that for this girl it’s gonna be pretty much every limb…ughh. Hopefully max factory fixes things by that time.

  2. I’m really looking forward on my figma sakura hope she’s the best hahahaha! Kitakami is really cute and I’m thinking of ordering her. I’m also thinking of getting figma iona but why are those rings a GSC exclusive?! 😒😒
