From the anime series ‘LoveLive’ comes a figma of the μ’s member in charge of outfits, Kotori Minami!

Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
Three expressions are included: a gentle smiling expression, a cheerful winking expression as well as a troubled expression.
Optional parts include her school bag, a sketchbook with some outfit ideas drawn on it as well as a pen.
Just like the previously announced figma Honoka Kosaka, she comes with two glow sticks of her image color.
An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Kotori retails for 5370 yen and is scheduled for a December release.

Preorders of figma Kotori Minami from the GOOD SMILE ONLINE SHOP will include Sparkling Expression as a bonus!

This product will be available at the GOOD SMILE ONLINE SHOP. Orders can be placed between the 16th June 2015 (Tue) 12:00JST and the 15th July 2015 (Wed) at 21:00JST.

Aaaaah so cute! Her giant smile! Her closed eye smile! Her wink! Aaaah!
I was impressed by the bonus face too until I noticed that it’s the winking face, but without the wink which actually makes it creepy. *wipes sweat off brow in relief that the GSC bonuses have yet to be awesome*
Kotori is a pass for me, but props for being mega cute!

Delayed from June to July.

The Thinker: Plaster ver. Preorders Begin
plaster thinker preview page
‘The Table Museum’ is a series of figma figures based on famous works of art that anyone would recognize! The third figma to join the series is a white ‘Plaster’ version of Auguste Rodin’s ‘The Thinker’! The white version has a different texture and looks a lot less heavy than the previously released bronze version, allowing for a very different charm and beauty. The Table Museum is expanding more and more! Look forward to the next release!

Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out the classic Thinker pose, or various other action poses.
A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
A special stand, chest and head part are included to recreate the classic pose.
Various other head and hand parts are also included for fun variations.
An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
The Thinker retails for 3980 yen and is scheduled for a January 2016 release.

2016 already?!
I was surprised to see a figma of a statue in the first place, but an alternate version as well? Will they make a scale next? (that would actually be pretty awesome)? The only thing I really question is why this is called the plaster version…why not marble?
This figure is a pass for me, but interesting nonetheless.

Venus De Milo Preorders Begin

‘The Table Museum’ is a series of figma figures based on famous works of art that almost anyone would recognize! The second figma to join the series is the mysterious statue found on the Greek island of Milos – Venus de Milo. The masterfully sculpted statue is known for both its graceful appearance as well as the intrigue inspired by her mysteriously missing arms. It allows one to enjoy the intricate sculpting as well as consider the many mysteries of ancient Greece.

Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out the classic Venus de Milo pose and various other action poses.
A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
A special stand, chest and head part are included to recreate the classic pose.
Alternate parts such as her missing arm parts, an apple and various hand parts are also included for other poses.
An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Venus de Milo retails for 4444 yen and is scheduled for release in January 2016.

Behold the first time ever two male figures preceded a female!
I would really like to know what meetings are like for the planning of these figures, and I wonder who they’ll do next! I could see myself buying a Lamassu with interchangeable expressions for my figmas to ride on. Or, not…that could be creepy. As far as finishes, I do love how the plastic was treated to resemble marble. You can even see little pores inside Venus de Milo’s arms.
Still, another pass for me.

Friday

figma Horse: White and Chestnut versions Delayed
horse white and chestnut
Delayed from June to September.

Woah there! WOAH! I have the white version preordered which makes this the longest figma delay I’ve been involved in. I don’t mind much since my wallet, like Bilbo Baggins, feels like butter scraped over too much bread, but this delay is exceptional. In hind sight though, I suppose this is to be expected since it is both the first jointed figma animal and being made in GSC’s new Japanese factory.

Motoko Kusanagi Sculpted

11 months later, Motoko is sculpted! I’m sure the colors will really make her pop!

Rin Shibuya and Uzuki Shimamura: Jersey versions Announced

This year’s Summer Wonderfestival exclusive items have been announced! On the figma front we have new versions of Rin and Uzuki.
rin and uzuki
The first versions of these figmas(two for Rin in the same outfit and one for Uzuki) featured their school uniforms, but this time both are in jerseys/tracksuits. Even though I’m covering both at the same time, they are sold separately.

rin shibuya friday
From the anime series ‘THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS’ comes a figma of Rin Shibuya wearing a running jersey!

Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
She comes with both a serious expression brimming with self-confidence as well as a slightly flustered, unsure expression.
Optional parts include arm parts to display her hands in her pockets and drop-shaped stickers to display her sweating.
An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Rin retails for 4630 yen.

She has a cute flustered face too.

uzuki shimamura friday
From the anime series THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS comes a figma of Uzuki Shimamura wearing a running jersey!

Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
She comes with both a gentle smiling expression as well as a clumsy expression for when she does something silly.
Optional parts include a towel to place around her neck, an energy drink and drop-shaped stickers to display her sweating.
An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Uzuki retails for 4630 yen.

uzuki 2
I love her hair~ A shame we didn’t get ponytails for the girls.

uzuki 3
This face! This is the kind of face I’ve been hoping Max Factory would start giving figmas again. It reminds me of the DX face with Tsukasa Hiiragi’s summer version and Mio Akiyama’s >_< face; both of which are a lot of fun to play with.

Overall, Rin and Uzuki each make for a simple, yet cute package. I am picky with which Cinderella Girls figmas I get, so I find myself torn between being happy that neither of these exclusives are necessities and being disappointed that the two are rather boring. Their simplicity is especially disappointing considering how many costumes the Cinderella Girls have. I’ll be passing on these two as well which isn’t a bad thing since I ordered both Wonderfestival exclusive figmas last winter.

There will be two releases of these figures. The first release consists of 2000 pieces each at summer Wonderfestival 2015 in Japan.
For those unable to attend the event. the second release orders will be open from the 26th July 2015 at 16:00JST – 3rd August 2015 at 21:00JST.
* Products will be made to order, and are estimated to ship out in November 2015.
GSC also brings these figures to other events they attend like conventions.

That wraps up this edition of Figma News Fridays! Are you looking to acquire any of the Wonderfestival exclusives?

  1. The WonFes figma exclusives are underwhelming. I like the alternate faces, especially Rin’s flustered face, but for 5k yen these two are very plain and come with practically no accessories.

At least the Fight Club Mako Nendoroid looks great.

  2. I really like Rin and Uzuki’s alternate expressions, and the latter’s outfit..but they’re so otherwise lacking in accessories. For their price…much too plain. So they’re a pass from me. Kind of a shame since previous Cinderella Girls exclusive figmas have been pretty solid.

It also would have been nice to get new characters instead of just new versions. Mio and Kirari are long overdue for some figmas…among others.

The new plaster versions of the tabletop museum figmas look great. I may end up ordering the Thinker since I skipped the original. Maybe…eventually.
