Figma News Fridays: 12/26/14

Welcome to the last Figma New Fridays of 2014! And to celebrate the beginning of 2015, I’m about to begin sorting through photos for my yearly photo summary post! This week had three preorders and one reveal, so let’s get started!

Monday

Figma Horse White and Chestnut preorders Begin

horse white and chestnut

figma Horse is the very first in the figma series to be ‘MADE IN JAPAN’, and comes in two different colors – Chestnut and White! figma Horse makes use of the same figma joints that fans have come to love, allowing for all sorts of dynamic poses!

You can choose to either display the horse alone, or instead have characters from the figma series ride the horse for all sorts of new posing possibilities! Grab your favorite figma figures and take them for a ride!

Each horse retails for 3704 yen and will be released in June 2015.

Made at GSC’s ‘Lucky Factory’ in Tottori, Japan.

This product will be made at Good Smile Company’s ‘Lucky Factory’, which was completed on the 5th December 2014. The product will be proudly ‘Made in Japan’, and sent all over the world for fans to enjoy.

This product will be available at the GOOD SMILE ONLINE SHOP. Orders can be placed between the 22nd December 2014 (Mon) from 12:00JST and the 21st January 2015 (Wed) at 21:00JST.

Let’s start with the good news: figma horse if way cheaper than I though it would be! Rising figure prices and the size of a horse considered, I was expecting something in the 6000 yen range, but less than 4000 is a pleasant surprise. Note that both horses are separate products. I just combined them for this post since the product descriptions are the same.

It’s true that figma horse could use more parts like the option the remove the saddle and bridle, a flowing mane, or maybe an apple, but these are all small details. In the end, figma horse is a good deal and excellent for accessorizing figmas like the Attack on Titan characters who actually ride horses.

Normally at this point, I would preorder the white horse and be done with it. Sadly, that is not so easy as both horses are *sigh* GSC shop exclusives. This means mandatory 2000 yen shipping which bumps the price of one horse up a lot. Group orders are ideal for something like this. Both horses are to be produced in GSC’s new Japanese factory. The new Sakura Miku nendoroid was also made in the new factory and an exclusive which makes me fearful for the future. Hopefully GSC is not assembling an army of shop exclusive figures made in Japan.

I want figma horse, but will have to think more about whether or not I want to order one.

Racing Miku 2015 Full Design Revealed

miku tuesday

Behold!

Racing Miku’s last few designs have been similar by incorporating space princess-esque motifs. Now it looks like Racing Miku is tired of being subtle and has embraced her inner princess!

Well, it’s not so random as it sounds. GSC holds regular polls on their website, and one was about what theme you would like to see for the upcoming Racing Miku. Both princess and knight were options, and those clearly come through in this design. This design is bold, so I was expecting a lot of backlash, but overall fans seem to agree that Miku looks awesome.

I love everything about her, so this might be the Racing Miku I actually preorder!

GGO Kirito Preorders Begin

GGO Kirito preview page

From the popular anime ‘Sword Art Online II’ comes a figma of Kirito in his avatar from Gun Gale Online!

  • Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
  • A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
  • He comes with three expressions: a confident smile, a shouting face for combat and a flustered expression.
  • His photon sword and handgun are both included, along with an alternate head part to display his hair more dynamically.
  • Effect parts that can be attached to his photon sword are also included.
  • An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.

Kirito retails for 5,370 yen and will be released in June 2015.

Isn’t it amazing that figma releases are planned half way into 2015 before it’s even started?

GGO Kirito returns to tear apart my gentle heart. He really is a great figma though. I love the range of accessories and faces, but but… I need time.

GGO Kirito is in preorder purgatory for me.

Asuna Rerelease Preorders Begin
Asuna preview page

From the anime series ‘Sword Art Online’ comes a figma of the heroine, Asuna!

    • Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
    • A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
    • Her weapon of choice, ‘Lambent Light’ as well as the sword she started the game with, the ‘Silveric Rapier’ are both included.
    • Effect parts that can be attached to Lambent Light are also included.
    • Three different expressions are included – a gentle smiling face, a shouting face for combat and even a pouting face.
    • An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.

Asuna retails for 4167 yen and will be released in May 2015.

We can’t have Kirito without Asuna, right? Except when we have Kirito with Silica, and Kirito with Lisbeth, and Kirito with Leafa, and Kirito with Sinon!

Asuna is a great figma though! If you’re unsure about ordering her, please check out my review!

That wraps up the last Figma News Fridays of 2014! What do you think of the close to 2014? How do you feel about figures in 2015?

  1. Godammit, I love the new racing Miku design, but… It’s miku. I wish it was an independent knight character. But then I’d have to watch a new anime…. Aaagh
