Figma News Fridays: 11/7/14

Welcome to Figma News Fridays which is on time this week! It’s just one FNF post after another this week.
But this week isn’t just FNF week, it’s Sakura week because every bit of news we got had to do with Cardcaptor Sakura. We have two announcements and a preorder, so let’s get started!

Tomoyo Daidouji Announced
tomoyo tuesday 2
「figma 大道寺知世」ちゃんの制作が決定しました~ッ!

Do you feel overwhelmed by the amount of Cardcaptor Sakura figures coming out lately? Like between figma Sakura and figma school uniform Sakura, it’s all too much awesomeness to handle at once? Well Max Factory says too bad because figma Tomoyo is coming!

Tomoyo is Sakura’s best friend who is also responsible for her lovely costumes, so its only natural that she should receive the figma treatment as well.
However, Tomoyo’s figmatization shows some lingering bias on Max Factory’s part because we now have two figmas of the heroine, one of her uniformed friend, but so far no news of an accompanying Syoaran! I don’t mind not getting any other characters, but for me Syoaran would complete the set more so than Tomoyo, so I hope that a figma for him is in the works!

Sakura Kinomoto Preorders Begin

From the magical girl masterpiece ‘Cardcaptor Sakura’ comes a figma of the main character Sakura Kinomoto, sculpted wearing the outfit from the cover illustration of the manga’s first volume!

Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
She comes with a cute smiling face, her classic embarrassed expression and a confident expression for ‘Release’ poses!
Cerberus (Kero-chan), her Sealing Wand, a Clow Card, Star Wand and Sakura card are all included.
Wing parts that attach to the Sealing Wand, as well as wing parts that attach to Sakura’s back are both included, allowing for both forms of her ‘Fly’ spell.
An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Sakura retails for 5556 yen and will be released in May 2015.

Preorders of figma Sakura Kinomoto from the GOOD SMILE ONLINE SHOP will include a’Sealing Wand (Key Form) Charm’ as a bonus!
Orders can be placed between the 7th November 2014 (Fri) from 12:00JST and the 3rd December 2014 (Wed) at 21:00JST.

My first preorder for 2015!
Every now and then, a figma pops up that reminds me what it feels like to really want something. Sometimes I find myself ordering figmas because I “have to”. New Saber figma? I guess I need it. Another Attack on Titan character? Might as well keep the collection going. I do not regret getting these figmas, and past decisions have proven this cycle breakable, but pushing the order button is not always accompanied with the same level of enthusiasm. Just seeing Sakura rekindled that feeling once again, and I preordered her without a second thought. When I began collecting figmas back in 2010, there were characters I could only dream of being made into figmas, but now we are seeing figmas from the Avengers, Yu-gi-oh, and even classic games. Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the most recognizable magical girl series, and being able to own her in my favorite action figure form is amazing.

As I mentioned in…yesterday’s FNF post, Sakura comes with accessories for both the original Clow Cards and later Sakura cards in addition to Kero and three faces. Looking closely, the “fed up” face which I described yesterday is actually a determined shouting face.
There’s also the sealing wand bonus which is ,in my opinion, not worth making a separate order for since tacking on GSC’s non-discount and 2000 yen shipping, you’d be paying a lot extra for something so small. I would only order Sakura from GSC if I was already buying something big and wanted to take advantage of the shipping.
And as has become customary to mention on every figma preorder, prices are rising. Yes, that’s $50 for a 1/12 scale figure. Can we bring 4444 yen back? How about 2500? I liked those days.

Overall, Sakura is everything she should be, nothing more or less.
An instant order for me.

figFIX Sakura Kinomoto Battle Costume ver. Announced
friday figfix sakura

That’s right, there is also a figFIX Sakura on the way!
It is described as the Battle Costume version, but we know that that information is virtually useless. For those unfamiliar with Cardcaptor Sakura, Sakura wears a different outfit every episode. Sakura’s outfits are all adorable, and although I have my preferences, I’ll be happy with anything different than the pink dress the figma is wearing.
Whereas I was wary of previous figFIX releases, I am looking forward to Sakura because we are guaranteed another outfit and faceplate. So far, I am planning on dipping into figFIXs with this one!

That wraps up Sakura week, but before closing, I’d like to mention something else.

friday chain chronicle
During this past Summer Wonderfestival, a figma of Skeleton Sega Saturn(not Miku) from Chain Chronicle V was announced. However it has since been clarified that she is not a figma, but a scaled figure by FREEING.

Now the week is over! So what from Sakura week excited you? Looking forward to new releases? Preordering Sakura? Hoping for Syaoran? And for those interested in the figFIX, what outfit are you hoping to see?
