Figma News Fridays 8/8/14

Welcome to Figma News Fridays! Today is a day where I find myself afraid to be in my own room writing this post. Why? Because I fear the house has been overrun by baby Terraformars, that’s why! Last night a Baby T even sneaked into my sacred bedroom and totally ran all over my craft paper forcing me to fall asleep to the sound of tiny T feet scurrying. SCURRYING ON MY PAPER. Why, Baby T? Why?

Anyway, this week was a little uneventful which is ok. We have release information and news on something announced forever ago, so let’s get started!

Super Sonico Suntan ver. Preorders Begin

Super Sonico is tanned a golden brown, ready for the Summer!

From the anime series ‘SoniAni’ comes a figure of Super Sonico in a special suntanned version!

Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
Her silver swimsuit matches her tanned skin perfectly, and optional parts such as a popsicle, beach ball and tube are included.
She comes with a standard expression, a licking expression to enjoy the included popsicle and a slightly worried looking face.
An articulated figma stand is included, allowing various poses to be taken.
Sonico retails for 3889 yen and will be available in December–perfect for summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

Inner tube? Check. Suggestively shaped and dripping Popsicle? Check. Beach ball? Check.
Sonico has everything a girl like her needs for the summer, and everything the previous bikini Sonico came with. At least it’s a different color! And speaking of color, whether or not you like tan Sonico is a matter of taste, but I do wonder why her tan is so…shiny?

But accessories are not the only thing Tan-ico shares with her lily white predecessor. She also shares an exclusive status. However, the nature of that exclusivity is rather vague as while Roasted Duck-ico is readily available on the Japanese online shop, it has been confirmed that she is not a Japanese exclusive, but will still not be available on the global site. This little tidbit comes from Mamitan who’s exact words are below:

Everyone seems to be asking so here is the official word.
figma Super Sonico: Suntanned ver. is not an exclusive item to Japan. She won’t be sold on our online shop however she will be sent out via our worldwide distributors so you can get her at your favorite partner shop!

This applies to GSC partner shops in all countries, so while getting Golden Buddha-ico may be a little more difficult, it is not impossible.

Iron Man Mark VII & Man Mark VII: Full Spec ver. Delayed

Both versions have been delayed to September.
On an unrelated note, it’s been a long time since anything I’ve ordered has been delayed. Not sure how I feel about that.

Progress on Weapon Set
weapons friday
Remember 2 years ago when Max Factory and Dengeki Hobby announced a collaboration on a figma weapon set? I don’t blame you if you do not because it was 2 years ago. Every Wonderfestival, this set has been in the back of my mind, not particularly because I wanted it, but because I wondered what happened to it. Well, that question has finally been answered as we see the prototypes finally surface.
It looks like that set is being referred to as Little Armory (cutest name for weapons ever), and comes with newer generation figma hands to accompany the guns. So far, so good.

That brings this week to a close! Did anything catch your eye this week? Was it the blinding gleam reflected from the barrels of smoking guns, or the equally blinding gleam from the smoking body of tan Sonico’s shiny tan?

  1. Sonico doesn’t look so good tanned, so I’ll pass. The weapon set will be a MUST for my list. Is there anymore info on the weapon set? Such as how many guns/rifles, pistols or just the general Armory list?

    • I agree. The tan worked for Miku, but Sonico not so much. I think it’s the hair. Jewel tones work better than pastels on tan skin.

Sadly this picture is the only info I can find at the moment :/

  2. Her boobs look so balloony, I really do not think the swim-suit look works for action figures. She looks (to me) like a robot made to look like a sexy woman..
I think it might be the chest joint.

  3. New layout? The only way to stop a little Terraformar is to buy some big Terrafomars. They’ll stop the little ones in their tracks. I’ll be needing some of those guns for my figmas anyways.
