Welcome to another Figma News Fridays. I find that due to my long shifts on Saturdays lately that FNF is often written in haste, but that makes it no less important. And sacrifices must be made, especially when your hobby involves collecting tiny people.
I’d also like to throw in that one of my favorite shows of the past season, Nagi no Asukara, ended this week. And it ended EXACTLY as I wanted. I feel fulfilled. But as far as other shows go, some that I’ve barely gotten to have already ended. Sigh~
As for figmas, this week wasn’t really much to write home about(even if I am still writing about it). We have one lone preorder. So let’s get started!
Akagi Preorders Begin
From ‘Kantai Collection -KanColle-‘ comes a figma of the aircraft carrier, Akagi!
•Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
•The ship deck on her back is articulated at the base for various possible angles.
•Areas such as the base of her quiver and her shoulders make use of soft materials for easy action poses.
•She comes with a standard expression, a half-damaged expression as well as a satisfied expression for enjoying her rice.
•Optional parts include her bow, her arrows based on famous aircraft, a repair bucket, bauxite and a bowl full of rice.
•An articulated figma stand is included.
Akagi retails at 4630 and is planned for August.
Orders made on GSC’s online shop will receive a bonus damaged deck accessory. GSC shop orders can be placed between the 2nd April 2014 (Wed) from 12:00JST and the 30th April 2014 (Wed) at 21:00JST
For the record, bauxite is aluminum ore. I was sort of hoping the accessory was a meat ball. You can’t have everything.
One thing that I’ve come to appreciate about Kan Colle’s character designs in their clever use of naval motifs. Shimakaze was the first Kan Colle character I knew of, and although my attention was initially occupied by her obvious fetish fodder(mini shirt, thong straps, striped thigh highs), seeing previews of her various figures alerted me to clever details like her shoes being rudders. Akagi’s outfit may strike one as an archery/shrine maiden mix, but looking at her more closely, you can see that her “shield” is a ship deck and the adornment near her quiver looks like a ship antenna.
Akagi herself looks great(as I’ve come to expect of figmas) and has a nice selection of accessories. Not just weapons, but goofy things like a smiling face and bowl of rice. I like seeing a balance of serious and candid with figmas since you can get so much more out of the figure that way.
I’ll be passing on Akagi, but am looking forward to whatever is next in store for us.
That’s all for this week! How was your week? Any new figures to admire? And have you decided to add Akagi to your collection?
