Figma News Fridays: 1/17/14

Welcome to Figma News Fridays! I’m still getting used to writing /14! This was a good week for figmas, a darn good one. Why, you ask? Because it was full of surprises! We had not one, but two surprise reveals along with all of that juicy Wonderfestival info we’ve been waiting for. So let’s get started!

Monday

Sonico: Swimsuit ver. Preorders Begin

Wait, what? That came out of nowhere. Thanks for ruining my preorder alert system before it even started, Sonico.
Grudges aside, Sonico is returning with her second figma in order to kick off her anime which began airing recently.

The first figma Sonico featured her cute tiger parks outfit, but this new one really gets to the center of what Sonico is best known for: being half naked.

Scantily clad Sonico or Sonico in general may not be my cup of tea, but I have to admit that considering how little she’s wearing, this is a very well done figma.
Compare the subtlety of the joints on Sonico to those of Lum who is wearing a similar outfit, and marvel at the differences. Figmas have come a long way.

Another thing Sonico brings to the table is her trademark curves…and a beach ball.

I mean three beach balls.

And what better way to top off her accessories than with a suggestive popsicle?

But(t) here’s the bad news: Sonico is part of an exclusive bundle.
The bundle is for the home release of her anime, and comes in two bundles.

Gon Freecss Rerelease Preorders Begin

From the popular anime ‘HUNTER x HUNTER’ comes a rerelease of the series’ main character – figma Gon Freecss!
•Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
•A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
•He comes with both a friendly smiling expression and a valiant shouting expression.
•Eleven different hand parts are included, which include hands to recreate the rock-paper-scissors from the series.
•The backpack he carried around with him everywhere, two fishing rods as well as a glass to recreate the water divination scenes are all included.
•An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
He retails for 3600 yen

What a surprise! A rerelease for Gon!
He’s scheduled for May.

Killua Zaoldyeck Rerelease Preorders Begin

From the anime ‘Hunter x Hunter’ comes a rerelease of figma Killua Zaoldyeck, Gon’s closest friend!
•Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
•A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
•He comes with both his standard expression and a confident glaring expression.
•A number of hand parts, his favorite skateboard as well as a glass to recreate the water divination scenes are all included.
•An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Killua retails for 3600 yen and is also scheduled for May

Curarpickt Rerelease Preorders Begin

From the anime ‘Hunter x Hunter’ comes a rerelease of figma Curarpickt, the Hunter with ‘scarlet eyes’!
• Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
• A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
• Two expressions are included: a standard expression and an angry expression showing his scarlet eyes.
• Parts to recreate three of his Nen abilities are included: Chain Jail, Judgement Chain and Dowsing Chain!
• An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Curarpickt retails for 3909 yen and will be rereleased in May

This is good news for anyone who missed the HunterXHunter figmas the first time because they can get them all at once!

Friday

Snow Miku Preorder Info Revealed

Just as I was settling into bed on Thursday night, GSC bombarded us with the details of their Wonderfestival exclusives. So much for sleeping!
There were not many surprises on the figma front though as both exclusives were revealed quite some time ago. Still, it’s great to know when and how we can get them!

The Winter Songstress is joining the figma series this Winter!

The famous Snow Miku that was changed into a Nendoroid for the Sapporo Snow Festival is finally becoming a figma too!
•The newly designed original figma joints allow for better articulation, letting you create a cuter Miku than ever before!
•She comes with an adorable smiling expression, a cheerful singing expression and a blushing expression.
•An attachable scarf and gloves are included, and she also comes with a snowman mascot holding a microphone.
•An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.

Snow Miku will receive two separate releases. First she will be available in limited numbers at the event in February for 4000 yen.
Then she will be sold on GSC’s online shop for 4115 yen, and will be released some time in the summer.

Orders can be placed between the 9th February 2014 from 16:00JST and the 17th February 2014 from 21:00JST

Armin Arlert Preorder Info Revealed

The second Wonfes exclusive is of course, Armin!

From the anime series ‘Attack on Titan’ comes a figma of Armin Arlert!
•Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
•He comes with three expressions including his standard determined face, an emotional shouting face and a worried expression.
•His dual blades are included for combat scenes, along with his Vertical Maneuvering Equipment and smoke effects to recreate its use.
•The hooks connected to a wire that shoot out from the equipment are also included, along with his Scouting Legion mantle.
•An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken

Like Snow Miku, Armin will be available in limited numbers at the event and then for preorder on GSC’s online shop.
He retails for 4629 yen and his release is some time in the summer.

Orders can be placed between the 9th February 2014 from 16:00JST and the 17th February 2014 from 21:00JST.

Ranko Kanzaki Announced

As if Wonderfestival exclusives weren’t enough to get our blood pumping, Max Factory adds to the madness by not only showing off a fully painted Ranko, but saying that the Cinderella Girls line will be continued as standard releases.
That’s it. I’m collecting this line.
