Summer Wonderfestival 2013 Wishlist

As much as I hate to admit it, summer is coming to a close. But the good news is that this bitter transition is marked by one of the best events for collectors: Summer Wonderfestival! In just five days, figure makers of all kinds will join forces to make us forget any resolution to spend less that we’ve ever made. With fairly little figure news to keep us occupied, now is the perfect time to gather our wish lists and speculate about just what will be at the event.

My winter list was vaguely successful. Of the 15 things I hoped for, 4 have since come to fruition, and most of those appeared far after the event had taken place(in fact, I forgot most of those things had even been on my list).
This year’s list is rather slim though. After Sword Art Online ended, I marathoned Arakawa Under the Bridge, and have barely touched anime since. I haven’t lost interest, I just have not been in the mood to watch anything. For that reason, my knowledge of the last few seasons is remarkably slim, and I doubt I can offer any decent speculation with regard to newer shows. But there are still a number of timeless characters and rehashes of older franchises for me to want figures of, so let’s look at those!

Rin and Len Kagamine Append figmas
For years now I’ve been wanting these. Rin and Len are the little brother and sister of the Vocaloid family, but this design depicts them as all grown up, and with the Append Miku figma and Append Rin and Len nendoroids already in existence, it’s a shame to not have these two to display alongside. And with a lot of recent Vocaloid revival, I feel that they have an increasingly good chance of becoming a reality.

Let’s continue with the obvious theme here. With the Append versions being my primary concern, I’d never had much hope for remakes of the original Rin and Len. But now that Miku 2.0 has gone up for preorder, and the recent Kaito figma features a modern sculpt, the time is perfect for Rin and Len 2.0! I think remakes of the originals actually have a better chance right now than Append figmas do!

A sculpt for figma Chariot
This one is pretty much guaranteed. Figma Chariot was finally confirmed at Anime Expo, and now that Strength is up for preorder, there’s nothing to keep them from sculpting Chariot! …Except everything else for the event.

Asuna Titania ver. figma
Ok, I hated ALO. Or, maybe hate is a harsh word. I deeply disliked ALO, the majority of my least favorite moments from the show happened during that arc, and I’m sad that it even happened. Something I disliked the most from that arc was what happened to Asuna. I don’t really mind her being put in a cage(it happens) as I do what happened in said cage and the fact that I had to see it. My high school English teacher always said that nothing in good literature is gratuitous, and in case it wasn’t already obvious that Sword Art Online is not good literature, the entire latter half of episode 24 was highly gratuitous.

Then why after this rant do I still want an Asuna Titania figma? Because my philosophy regarding SAO is “Watch and Forget”. So even though ALO is far from being my favorite anime arc, I still do have an attachment to Asuna, and would love to see another version of her become a figma. She’d be a very pretty figma, and I’m sure coming up with faces and accessories for her would not be difficult.

Leafa figma
Although her real world counterpart, Sugu, is not my favorite character, Leafa has a wonderful design. Not only do her colors match well, her wings would look great, and she has a sword! There really haven’t been enough Leafa figures.

Prisma Illya figma
Prisma Illya is a Type Moon spinoff series that began airing very recently(I should probably watch it…). The show features the fiery loli Illyasviel von Einzbern as a cute magical girl, so what’s not to love? There are already several figure renditions of her, and now is a great time for new announcements since the anime has begun.

Oreimo 2 figmas
I’m not exactly dying for more figmas from Oreimo, but considering that the second season is still fresh, I wouldn’t doubt that we’d see more. I’d really like to see figma Shironeko or Kuroneko in her uniform!

A PVC Yuzuruha
This is a garage kit of Yuzuruha from the game Oboro Muramasa. Having already given us Momohime and Kongiku(who also began as a GK) from the same series, I really hope Alter decides to continue their Muramasa line and include Yuzuruha as well!

More Sailor Moon
With the new anime due out…eventually, I’m itching for someone to give us the quality figures Sailor Moon needs. And I mean someone other than Bandai. I won’t hope for figmas, but some good scaled figures would be amazing. It may be too early to look for these, but I’m including it in my list just in case there is anything.

Did you think I was done with Kirito? There have been several Asuna scaled figures, but not a single good Kirito. I know he’s at a disadvantage for being a guy, but to not have a Kirito to display alongside her is sad. Any number of cool fighting poses would suit him, and a lot could be done with his long coat. The chances of him appearing at all are slim, but if he did, I’d most expect to see him in Alter’s all male Altair line. And we already know that Alter has a SAO license since they made a Suguha recently. I need more Kirito!

A sculpt for Saber Alter Yukata ver.
This yukata version of Saber Alter was announced long ago, and although the other girls in FREEing’s Fate yukata line have at least gone up for preorder, Saber Alter has yet to be seen. I love her pose, and since the Beach Queen made me so happy, it would be a shame for her to go unfinished.
